How to Care for your Do

With natural foods come natural processes. Food will naturally lose its expiration date without the preservatives and additives that can do our bodies harm. So if your sourdough is left on the counter and uncared for, you might see its expiration date a little sooner than expected, but here are some tips to keep your bread fresh, alive and well cared for!!

Slice the bread the day of your order

Slicing your bread with a bread knife can help to achieve perfect crust ratios. When I deliver my breads, they typically will have been out of the oven for 4-10 hours,, meaning they are ready to be sliced and the moisture has been maintained. I have attached a useful link to help slice your sourdough bread :)

How To Cut Your Bread

2

Leave only on conter for 2 days MAXIMUM

Because Sourdough bread will naturally ferment on its own, it is a lot more susceptible to mould growth if not refrigerated. While not having preservatives is much healthier for our gut lining, they also have the downfalls of needing to be eaten relatively quickly.

3

Refrigerate after 2 days in an airtight ziplock bag

If you want to try to extend the life of your sourdough slices, you can always place them in an airtight ziplock bag and place them in the refrigerator. This will give your bread an additional week of shelf life. After about a week, the bread may start to get hard if the moisture evaporates. If this happens, pour a couple teaspooons of water onto the bread and place it in a toaster oven or regular oven @350 F for about 5 minutes and it will taste brand new!

4

Freezing your bread whole or sliced

If you ordered too much bread or sourdough products and are hoping for them to last a little longer than a week, that is perfectly okay. Do not cut the bread or sourdough items and place them in a ziplock bag or any available grocery bag. Once in the refrigerator, it will last for about 2 months. When ready to eat, remove the bread from the bag and run cold water around the entire loaf (don't worry, it will work). After you have dampened your bread in water, place it in the oven @400 F for about 10-15 minutes, and it will be ready to take it back to step one, just as if it were brand new.
